Apple has published its Mac OS X Security Configuration guide for Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard; the 240-page PDF document is available here. This guide, designed mostly for IT professionals, shows how to lock down Mac OS X, and especially how to render certain parts of the operating system inaccessible to users, using command-line instructions. It discusses permissions, ACLs, user accounts, advanced security policy and much more.
If you’re not sure what the above terms mean, by all means, don’t go fiddling with the commands and instructions in this guide. You may end up causing problems with your Mac. However, advanced users will find a great deal of useful information here.
