Microsoft has released a critical update to its Auto-Update tool, which is used to update its Office software. The company says that, “To receive future product updates, you must install this update.” Microsoft does not say what is fixed in this update, and the information on the Microsoft web site does not specify that this is a critical update. However, the information in Auto-Update does say this:

As expected, the update is available via Auto-Update, or from the Microsoft web site .
