Presenter Cancels Black Hat Talk on FileVault

Posted on August 4th, 2008 by

The Washington Post is reporting that security researcher Charles Edge has cancelled a scheduled talk about Apple’s FileVault, presumably to discuss its weaknesses and, perhaps, to present new exploits. But Edge has cancelled the talk, saying “he signed confidentiality agreements with Apple, which prevents him from speaking on the topic and from discussing the matter further.”

This is odd. Does this mean that Apple has paid Edge to not discuss FileVault at the Black Hat conference?
