Our Story
Intego was founded in 1997 by a team of passionate Mac users who saw what others didn’t: Apple devices were unique, and they needed their own dedicated line of defense. While most security companies were focused solely on Windows, Intego launched its very first product, VirusBarrier, for Mac OS 8. It was one of the first antivirus tools designed specifically for Apple computers—long before “Mac security” was part of the conversation.
For more than 25 years, we’ve kept pace with Apple’s evolution, growing from a single antivirus tool into a trusted security leader for millions of users worldwide.
