|
Parental Filter is the total solution for parental control that ensures safe and appropriate use of the Internet in your family. |
The Internet is a fabulous means of communication and source of information for young and old, however :
- For children, it is easy to visit Web sites "just for fun" which are completely inappropriate for their age level;
- They are also frequently the target of ill-intentioned people who are
going to exploit their natural curiosity on forums or social networking
sites of all types. This type of incident may encourage them to
communicate personal information or to be confronted with inappropriate
content.
- Even with a cautious approach, it is sometimes difficult to avoid
intrusive ads and automatic redirects that take you to Web sites that
are completely inappropriate and sometimes violent or shocking.
- The "criminal liability" of parents can be brought into question in
the context of communication of illegal content via peer-to-peer
networks, for example.

|
- A rock-solid filtering engine
|
Parental Filter is based on four complementary technologies that let
you filter Web sites visited by your children, emails and attachments,
instant messengers, etc. |
Advanced filtering technologies : |
|
|
1- Filter email and messaging contacts :
- Define email contacts from whom your children can receive messages.
- Select the MSN messaging contacts with whom your children can chat.
Thus, they are protected against chats with "strangers".
|
|
|
|
 |
|
2- Filter by list of Internet sites :
- White list: you define the exact list of Internet sites authorized for viewing
- Black list: includes the sites you wish to exclude, plus a list of
sites which include content inappropriate for children: lists used by
the Department of Education which are regularly updated, sites approved
by the ICRA, etc.
|
|
3-
Filter by theme (hatred, violence, adult...) and semantic analysis with
the possibility of adding your own themes and expanding personal
dictionaries: 14 themes are offered which allow you to refine the
sensitivity of the filter according to your user profiles, since the
notion of violence varies based on a child's age. |
|
|
|
4-
Filter using ACR (Active Content Recognition) technology: a dynamic
filter which does an analysis using artificial intelligence techniques
in real time on the contents of a Web page, including images. When the
Web page is received by the computer, it is analyzed and classified
based on items which are detected on it. After analyzing the criteria,
the system determines whether it should block or authorize access to
the pages in question.
|
|
 |
|
5- Filter email and Internet pages viewed by your children based on language and country of origin. |
|
- Complementary filters and settings
|
Filtering by sequence :
Parental Filter also integrates
a validation engine for authorized and unauthorized words and sequences
when entered via the keyboard in order, for example, to prevent your
children from giving out contact information (address, telephone
number, credit card number, etc.) during a chat or in an email. This
technology lets you safeguard the confidentiality of your personal
information as well as that of your children. |
|
 |
Filtering of search engines and instant messengers :
Search engines sometimes return unfiltered results.
Instant
messengers let children interact with complete strangers, which
represents a potential danger for them and for your software environment
In order to prevent the communication of contact and confidential information,
you can block the majority of engines and instant messengers :
- Search engines: Google, Yahoo, Lycos, etc.
- Instant messengers: MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ
- Filtering of MSN Messenger instant messages
|
Filtering of communications protocols: Web sites, file transfers and email :
Incoming Web pages, FTP and email are overrun with interactive content such as images, video and even music which is not always harmless. You have the possibility of blocking some of these protocols if you wish to limit their sphere of activity :
- HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) which lets you view Web pages
- FTP (File Transfer Protocol) for sending files
- SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) which lets you send email
- NNTP for blocking access to chat rooms
|
Filtering of data types coming into and going out of the computer :
In order to guarantee the relevance of pages viewed by your children
and to protect you against possible sources of viruses contained in
unwanted files, you have at your disposal numerous settings to block
file extensions and animations :
- A selection of prohibited extensions for Web pages, file transfers and email :
Archives (compressed files), images (jpg, bmp, gif...), video (mpeg,
avi, mov...), audio (wav, MP3, midi...), text, executables (programs),
PDF (Universal PDF or Acrobat files for example).
- Authorization of Flash, Script, Applet and ActiveX animations :
Block interactive content that can display animations or install applets likely to be violent or inappropriate. |
- Planner for PC and Internet usage
|
Parental Filter lets you define access rights :
|
Internet timetables: you can authorize Internet usage only
during certain times in order to keep your children from spending too
much time on the Internet. Similarly, you can establish time
limitations by selecting the total time that your child can spend on
the Internet each week, each month etc.
Access to the computer: in the same way, you can set a fixed
window of time during which your children can or cannot use the
computer and you can allocate to them a weekly or monthly amount of
use.
Locking of programs and folders: you can prevent your children
from opening certain folders in order to protect your work and personal
information. You can also prevent access to certain settings tools
(Control Panel) in order to guarantee the proper functioning of your
system. |
|
|
|
Parental
Filter lets you verify the use of your computer in your absence; you
have at your disposal numerous tools and activity reports :
|
Statistics and logging: check at a glance the sites that were visited by users as well as the programs used.
The screen function: lets you record screen captures and video at regular intervals to validate the compliance of Internet sites that users visited.
The keyboard function: allows you to display the keystrokes of
selected users to visualize the searches done in search engines or the
messages that were sent, for example.
Remote monitoring: lets you monitor the activity on the
computer on which you use Parental Filter from a remote computer on a
local network or via the Internet.
|
|
|
| Authorizations: if one of your children wishes to access locked
content, he/she can request it by clicking on the appropriate button;
you will then have the option of unblocking the applications or Web
sites in question. |
