Intego Releases Its Acclaimed NetBarrier
for Macintosh OS X Version 10.4 "Tiger"

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 10, 2006 - Intego, the Macintosh security specialist, today announced the release of the latest version of its flagship product, the personal firewall NetBarrier X4. This new version of Intego NetBarrier is available immediately for Macintosh OS X version 10.4 "Tiger". Intego is presenting and selling NetBarrier X4 at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, from January 10-13, at booth 2417 of the Moscone Center.

NetBarrier X4 is the acclaimed personal firewall, antivandal, Internet filter and network monitoring tool for Macintosh that is fully compatible with Mac OS X. NetBarrier X4 incorporates a wide range of new features and enhancements, such as Dashboard widgets, all in an easy-to-use package. As Macworld magazine (March 2005) has said, "Intego's NetBarrier is the best personal firewall on the market."

Among the program’s new features are more specific firewall rules, simpler rule creation using a Services Library palette, and rules that operate only during specified time periods.

NetBarrier X4’s Antivandal offers greater control over sensitivity for different types of attacks, and more flexibility in using the Stop List and Trusted Group. The program’s anti-spyware feature lets users allow or block network access by application and by port, and its Internet filters have been improved and refined. In addition, NetBarrier X4 now finds available AirPort (WiFI) networks, and several Dashboard Widgets leverage this Mac OS X Tiger feature to provide easily accessible information, such as network traffic data.

• Personal Firewall—controls all incoming and outgoing TCP/IP traffic and data; includes pre-configured filtering rules for non-technical users and customizable port and service rules for power users. Rules can be quickly added by drag-and-drop from a Services Library palette, activated and deactivated when needed, and schedules can determine days and times when they are active.
• Antivandal Protection—blocks ping attacks, port scans and other intrusion attempts; detects and logs most the common attacks such as Code Red and nimda, and spots attempts to log in with incorrect passwords. Alerts can be displayed in windows on-screen, and email messages can be sent to specific addresses in the event of thwarted attacks.
• Internet Filters and Anti-Spyware—gives users control over cookies, browser cache files and ad banners, and analyzes data as it leaves the computer, preventing unauthorized exporting of credit card numbers, passwords, and other sensitive data. Customizable Stop List and Trusted Group listings block incoming access from network addresses that have made previous intrusion attempts while granting access to friendly addresses.
• Network Monitoring—includes a network gauge that displays real-time activity in and out of the user’s Mac. Full network activity information is provided, including global traffic, active ports and services, and much more. Users can also detect available AirPort (WiFi) networks, and run whois and traceroute functions.
