INTEGO TO FULLY SUPPORT APPLE’S MOVE TO INTEL PROCESSORS

Intego Announces its Full Support for Intel-Based Mac OS X

Austin, TX, July 18, 2005 - Intego, the Macintosh security specialist, today announced that the company will fully support Apple’s move to Intel processors by porting all its Internet security software to be compatible with Intel processors. Intego will provide Intel-compatible versions of its software the first day that Apple’s Intel-based version of Mac OS X is available.

Intego has always supported Apple’s changes, such as the change from 68K to PowerPC processors, and the change from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X, and will continue to support future changes as well. The company will port all its existing applications to the Intel-based Mac OS X, and will focus on developing new applications for the Intel processor. Intego will continue to support all current versions of its applications.

“Intego was the only security company to provide Tiger-compatible versions of its software on the same day that Tiger was released,” said Laurent Marteau, CEO, Intego. “The day that the first Apple computers with Intel processors are available, Intego software compatible with this new processor will be available as well. We have already received our first transition kit and are hard at work on these updates.”

Intego has comfortably negotiated all of Apple’s changes in operating systems, processors and other hardware over the years. Intego has already developed software for Intel processors for internal projects, and is comfortable developing for a variety of CPUs. Apple’s excellent developer tools, such as Xcode, and the flexible Cocoa environment, make this process extremely simple. The company is delighted to work hand-in-hand with Apple as this next major change occurs.

“Apple has done an excellent job in preparing this transition, and the developer tools designed to facilitate this transition are efficient and easy to use,” said Laurent Marteo, CEO, Intego. “Intego will have more work porting its programs than many companies, since its software works at a very low level in the OS, but the company is nevertheless delighted to make this change.”

During the two-year transition period from PowerPC-based versions of Mac OS X to the Intel-based operating system, Intego will naturally provide all its software in versions compatible with both platforms, as it did with Mac OS 9 versions following the release of Mac OS X.

Intego will be updating its full product line to provide Intel processor support:

  • NetBarrier
  • VirusBarrier
  • Personal Backup
  • ContentBarrier
  • ChatBarrier
  • Personal Antispam
  • Remote Management Console
  • Internet Security Barrier
  • NetUpdate
