Latest Update Brings Greater Personalisation and Efficiency
to the Backup, Synchronisation and Cloning Procedure

Intego, publisher of i-security software for Macs, today released its latest version of Intego Personal Backup X, an award-winning all-in-one backup, synchronisation and volume cloning solution for Mac OS X. Personal Backup X 10.3 incorporates numerous updates designed to add a range of labour-saving and personalised features, making the overall backup procedure for users more efficient. Personal Backup X 10.3 can manually or automatically back up files, synchronise data between two computers or volumes, and clone bootable Mac OS X volumes. Users can choose from one-click operations or custom scripts.

The new, competitively priced product is the first on the market to combine ease of use, performance and reliability. Intego has used a unique approach and developed a user-friendly, ergonomic interface that can be adapted to suit both beginners and experts.

Backups, synchronisations and clones can be carried out with a click of the mouse. Alternatively, users can create scripts and define exceptions, select multiple sources, set schedules, and even clone their Mac OS X start-up volume to ensure they have bootable backups at all times. Intego's Personal Backup X 10.3 incorporates a collection of new features including:

•  Personal Backup can be brought to the front of the screen during the execution of a script by simply clicking on its icon.

•  Multiple files can now be selected by drag and drop.

•  Filters can be added via a standard dialog box.

•  Pop up reminders will alert the user when Personal Back up has not been used for a certain number of days (user customisable).

•  Display alerts will remind the user when a log file reaches a certain size (user customisable).

•  Personal Backup can be set to quit when a manually launched script is complete. Users can also set it to turn the computer off at the end of a script run.

•  New alerts have been added to warn users that cloning a volume will erase all data on the target disk chosen for the clone.

All Intego Mac OS X solutions are developed on native Cocoa (and not versus carbon OS 9), providing greater stability and a platform for future enhancements. Written specifically for Mac OS X, utilising Apple's new Cocoa development technology, Intego Personal Backup X 10.3 provides an easy-to-use interface and advanced capabilities that simplify the process of protecting data from accidental deletions and hard disk failures.

Backups can run automatically at shutdown, at preset times, or at regular intervals; or manually by selecting a script from a special pull-down menu. The program recognises any HFS/HFS+/UFS volume including hard disks, magneto-optical disks, SyQuest cartridges, Zip cartridges, iDisks, and AppleShare, samba and NFS servers. All data is copied in Finder format, enabling users to immediately recover backup files without performing complicated restore procedures.

The synchronisation option makes it possible to update the most recent items between two volumes. This feature is useful for PowerBook and iBook users as well as for managing multiple projects on removable media. The program also:

•  Backs up complete folders and volumes

•  Synchronises folders or volumes

•  Clones bootable start-up volumes

•  Performs incremental backups, backing up only new and modified files

•  Works completely in the background

•  Backs up files in disk images

•  Runs multi-generational backups

•  Lets users choose what not to copy via exception lists

•  Lists all backup activities in a log file

•  Automatically mounts shared volumes when backup starts

•  Handles multiple backup scripts

Intego Personal Backup X 10.3 supports the latest version of Intego's NetUpdate automatic software update engine. Users can program updates for specific days and times, and NetUpdate will automatically and simultaneously check the Intego server for updates for all Intego programs installed on the user's computer, including Intego Personal Backup X 10.3.

Intego Personal Backup X 10.3 runs under Mac OS X 10.1.1 or higher. The program is also available in French and Japanese versions and can be purchased immediately from major computer retailers, and direct from Intego at www.intego.com.
