NEW WEB-FILTERING SOFTWARE PROVIDES PARENTAL CONTROL AND EMPLOYER SUPERVISION

The new, competitively priced product is the first on the market to combine ease of use, performance and reliability. Intego has used a unique approach and developed a user-friendly, ergonomic interface that can be adapted to suit both beginners and experts. ContentBarrier 2004 provides parents with direct control over the access to the Internet, allowing them to avoid access to specific websites. Internet predators are increasing and are using chat rooms to inappropriately contact children. ContentBarrier 2004 provides one of the most critical functions of a parental control solution: keyword filtering. It provides a comprehensive list of keywords, ensuring effective email, web page, and chat room content filtering. For example, parents can block certain keywords used in chat rooms to coax information from children such as addresses and phone numbers. Users can also define their own lists to extend the content that is restricted via the application. For instance, parents can set individual restrictions for children of different ages and maturity. "Every day, 9,400 pornographic sites, 260 hate and crime sites and 140 drugs related sites are added to the Internet" said Laurent Marteau, CEO of Intego. A survey conducted by the Benchmark Group in September 2002, reported that 23% of employees connected to the Internet spend one hour or more per day surfing the web for personal use. ContentBarrier 2004 provides the ability for employers to restrict web access to specific sites resulting in enhanced employee productivity. In addition, the ability to limit the websites that are visited enables employers to control the downloading of multimedia applications, such as MP3s, which demand high bandwidth. Productivity can therefore also be increased by maximising bandwidth, which enables faster download times. Avoiding the need to upgrade networking equipment, which is usually a result of unnecessary strain on the bandwidth, can also reduce costs. The product includes the following features: • Customisable Categories In addition to ContentBarrier 2004's predefined filtering categories, users can also set their own custom categories for web content blocking. • Predatory Chat Blocking An anti-predator function blocks language typically used by child predators in online chat rooms and over instant messaging applications. • Multiple User Support Individual restrictions can be set for different users based on age and maturity. • Newsgroup/Email/Download ControlUsers can preset whether children can access newsgroups or email. • Internet Access Control? ContentBarrier 2004 can restrict access to the Internet to include only certain times or days. • Automatic Log, Email Notification To make sure controls are being followed, ContentBarrier 2004 keeps a log of all web sites visited. An automatic email feature notifies the parent if certain events occur. Automatic Updates with Intego NetUpdateIntego ContentBarrier 2004 includes the latest version of Intego's NetUpdate automatic software update engine. Users can program updates for specific days and times, and NetUpdate will automatically check the Intego server for updates for all Intego programs installed on the user's computer.
